Die Festschrift „Für eine Philosophie der Biologie“ ehrt den Biophilosophen und Biohistoriker Rolf Löther (*14. Februar 1933). Mit fünf Texten zur Natur der Biologischen Art wird einer der wichtigsten Beiträge Löthers zur Philosophie der Biologie gewürdigt. Wissenschaftshistorische Beiträge zu interdisziplinären Forschungsansätzen in der DDR, zum Wirken Hans Stubbes, zu Rudolf Virchow sowie Paracelsus und Sebastian Franck schlagen die Brücke zum Bemühen Rolf Löthers, Wissenschaft und Wissenschaftstheorie immer auch aus der geschichtlichen Perspektive zu begründen.

The Festschrift „For a Philosophy of Biology“ honors the Biophilosopher and Biohistorian Rolf Löther (*14 February 1933). Five chapters discuss the nature of Biological Species, in appreciation of one of Löther’s most important contributions to a philosophy of biology. History of science papers on interdisciplinary research in the GDR, the work of Hans Stubbe, Rudolf Virchow as well as Paracelsus and Sebastian Franck reflect Rolf Löther’s aim to found science and the theory of science always also on a historic perspective.
